Yok Sembang Gendang!

Januari 25, 2015 @ 1:00 am - 2:00 am

‘Yok Sembang Gendang!’ is a monthly community engagement avenue dedicated to sharing rhythms, grooves and drums of the Malayan Archipelago. Nadi Singapura welcomes enthusiasts of all ages and anyone who wishes to participate and to experience the unique vibrant drumming style originating from this region.

These monthly drumming assemblies will also feature local and regional notable drummers and percussionists from various different Malayan musical traditions as they discuss their music, techniques and perspectives. Ranging from our local practices to the Kelatanese, Sundanese and even Balinese practices.

‘Yok Sembang Gendang’ is built on the joy of drumming while forming a distinct united voice that constantly grows and evolves through the sessions.

Join us for our first session, with guest percussionists from Sri Mahligai, Mr Iswandi and Mr Jamsyid, this 24 January 2015 at Malay Heritage Centre from 5 to 6pm

Organised by The Malay Heritage Centre. For more information go to www.malayheritage.org.sg. To register, please mail NHB_MHC_Programmes@nhb.gov.sg or call 6391 0450.
